In May 1989, the R32 Skyline was born through a full model change, launched with the bold tagline “Hyper Sensory Skyline.” Its futuristic TV commercial featuring flying ‘SPACE FISH’ captured public attention. Under the leadership of chief engineer Shurei Ito, the R32 broke away from the luxury-oriented path of its predecessor, the R31, and returned to the Skyline’s true roots. Downsized for agility and infused with the benefits of the 901 movement, the R32 achieved a sublime fusion of evolved RB engine power and precision handling—earning its reputation as the greatest Skyline ever built. This exceptional foundation would ultimately pave the way for the legendary revival of the GT-R after a 16-year hiatus.
