VOLKSWAGEN 13AD Beetle 1303S '73

Sales Area: Worldwide

Volkswagen Beetle 1303S

Debuting in 1938, the VW Beetle underwent numerous minor changes over its production span, lasting until 2003, and became beloved worldwide. In 1971, the 1302 series was introduced while maintaining the basic design of a rear-mounted, air-cooled horizontally opposed engine. It replaced the torsion bar front suspension with a MacPherson strut system and featured a bulging hood design. In 1973, the model transitioned to the 1303 series with a larger curved windshield and bigger tail lamps. The 1303 came with a 1300cc engine, while the 1303S was equipped with a 1600cc engine. Production of the 1303 series ceased in 1975, but torsion-bar designs continued, and the convertible, based on the 1303S, was manufactured until 1979.
