The T 140 series, the seventh generation Corona, was introduced in January 1982 after a full model change from the previous T130 series. The exterior design was based on the same concept as that of the previous generation, but the straight lines were adopted to match the trends of the time, and the headlights shared the same design as those of the high-end Crown and Mark Ⅱ. The wedge-shaped hardtop model boasted top-class aerodynamic characteristics at the time, with a CD value of 0.36.
